About Haydn Wood
1882 – 1959
Born in Slaithwate, within a few miles of where the festival is currently based, Haydn Wood was one of the leading English composers of his day. One of his most famous works, “Roses of Picardy”, written during World War 1, is known the world over for its sentimental beauty. The festival was formed in 1959 to commemorate his truly incredible life.
